I think we discussed it in the chatroom last saturday, or in one of the threads that were locked. I think you suggested the Pleuro but then tossed it because it didn't fit the criteria. Too big maybe???
Does this refresh your memory?

I really like the Podangis dactyloceras, especially since it's the only one in it's genus (I love that!)...but if any description leads me to believe our cool growers would be reluctant to get this one.
We've got some great choices on our list...with more to come, I'm sure...I think we should skip this one.
Would you like it added to the "no good for our project" portion of the list as a reference?

I'll do some more digging on the Pleuro...Orchidwiz doesn't have any sizing info available...but I do see this in Jay Phahl's description: "foul smelling, pendant flowers" L
I emailed Marlow's to see about the Comparettia...we'll need 34 in the US!

I wish I had paid a bit more attention to this thread. Jim Marlow (a good friend of mine) is terrible with emails and phone calls and I know he's at a show through sunday night with all his greenhouse help so nobody is around. I ran into him at the show last night, if I had been a bit smarter I would have known to ask him about the Comparettia. Oh well, if I venture up there again on saturday I'll track him down and let you guys know.

I do! I've gotten lots of great plants from him. He's a great guy, so long as you don't get insulted when he forgets to call or email you back . His greenhouse is dangerously located 10 minutes from my house, so there are times where I just feel the need to go shopping .

I've been growing this plant for about a year now... and its put on two new leaves. No flowers yet. The leaves are about 9-10 inches tall, obviously I don't know yet about the flower spike - or the smell!

I've always heard great things about Marlow...and Jim, in particular
Thanks for letting us know, cowboy...we'll wait for either an answer from you or to my email.

Yes, please. I'm going to try it in any case. (And I'm most decidely a 'cool' grower - no hot summer to make up for it either!)
