Is this one too big? Andy's Orchids - Orchids Species - Epidendrum - longipetalum It says it's a miniature...but the spike gets 18".

You mind reader, you!

Yes, the Japanese technique got me to thinking. . .maybe there are some really beautiful ways to display and grow well too.

Then I started thinking about a rock outcropping in a bonsai dish with one, perfectly growing orchid in it. AND a few itsy bitsy ferns or something small. A little tableau.

Then I noticed Dave and his big cork planting. . .

Then I was wondering if we couldn't (sometime, not this time necessarily. I don't mean to complicate the process) pick some orchid type that lent itself to many different ways of growing, with a focus on a gorgeous display that played up it's best feature. It's best feature might be that it grows on rocks, or is a climber or has blooms that hang upside down. If it were a big stinker Bulbo maybe in a little glass case. lol See what I mean? It could be funny or playful or serious and sophisticated.

Just some thoughts: maybe Marty could capitalize on it as a photo opportunity and we could have fun while helping to support the OB with the calander sales.

P.S. Forgot to add that I should be receiving my orchid babies (yes, there were a couple of TC's too. . .oh, I am so bad) soon! Will post pics before and after potting it up.

Gwen, I *LOVE* your idea.... and there are so many possibilities. Here's another idea that I came across a while ago that might be good: Rocks + Orchids = Art

Back on topic: Jasen, that's one really cool looking plant! I can't find it available yet in the EU, but I'll keep looking!

Guys, I just remembered I had this "mini wish list" somewhere, that I had written down during an chids show in Germany. I am not 100% sure whether we can find them in USA, EU and/r Canada... can someone have a look on them? I need to run now to the airport, and will not be back until sunday. Did not want to leave without bringing them to the OB

Ancistrochilus rothschildianus
Clowesia rosea
Dendrobium bellatulum
Dendrobium crepidatum
Phalaenopsis (Aerides) taenialis

Hi! Am I too late to put in plant suggestions? Sorry I haven't been following up on the last 20 pages of discussion - in case no one has mentioned these (didn't see them on the revised project list), I'd definitely be up for trying encyclia polybulbon, laelia lundii, and Ramon's suggestion - Ancistrochilus rothschildianus!

Also, a question - what happens if we have the plant already? Do we still participate?

Sue, are we going to add these to the list?
Den harveyum
Jumellea comorensis
Respesia dodsonii

We discussed them a few pages back, and 3 or 4 of us really liked them, and available everywhere. Were there some issues with them?

Hi Ramon

1. Ancistrochilus rothschildianus - gorgeous but I can't find it in the US or in Canada
IOSPE PHOTOS

2. Clowesia rosea - this one is lovely! I have Ctsm Rebecca Northen which has rosea as a parent and I love it...but I don't see it in Canada and only one place in Europe has it listed!

3. Dendrobium bellatulum - a beauty...unavailable in Canada

4. Dendrobium crepidatum - very nice choice...and it's available everywhere!
IOSPE PHOTOS

Do we add it to the list, folks?

5. Phalaenopsis (Aerides) taenialis - I love it!!!
...but don't see it in Europe or Canada
