Ordata is a great one, but yes I believe many people already have this great orchid. For the record it's very free flowering, and forgiving if you don't keep conditions just right. I drove mine across the country in plastic bag for 5 days, it still flowers!

I'm adding Haraella retrocalla (aka odorata) to our list. It gives us another plant for discussions but may not make it to the final poll.
We have 14 now...I'd like to get a total of at least 20 plants that fit the criteria and are available to everybody. This will give us a decent list to work from when deciding which 10 will make up the final poll from which each participant will get just one vote
Thanks everybody

Isn't traveling companions a requisite????? It's called the buddy system. Never travel alone.
I imagine that when we all vote, and our choice isn't the final winner, that very choice will be a companion! Ya think?

You guys are amazing! Thank you so much for all of your hard work. As an orchid amateur, I am enjoying following this project and I am learning so much. I can't wait until I can get my hands on the next addition to my orchid family!

What about:
Amesiella monticola
Available at Andy's in the US
"a gorgeous new addition to this once monotypic genus, thick leathery 3" light green leaves with a mini phalaenopsis like growth habit, up to three semi-pendant spikes, each producing up to five fabulous oversized 2-1/2" flowers, pure glistening white blooms have well rounded overlapping segments with a three lobed lip and 3-1/2" nectary."
Burnham in the UK/EU
Haven't checked all of the Canadian vendors's yet, though...
Andy's says: 52°F min. to 80°F max.
Is 80°F to low, Sue?

No...I have this one ...but it's in the Exo-Terra and I haven't gotten it to do anything yet. Not sure if it's working for me or not.

Hi Erin
As a novice, you should look at all the plants on our list that won't be used in the project.
There are dozens of great plants that may work wonderfully for you, in your conditions. That's actually my favorite part of this whole process...discovering orchids that I had never seen before...and adding to my personal wish-list. There are quite a few that were suggested (and rejected for the project) that I just have to have
