Maximum sunlight, the leaves will turn dark green red, for maximum flowering. Warm grower. Renanthera monochica comes from the Philippines, and the brightly coloured yellow spotted red flowers are very showy..

I still like Cattleya acalandiae... I know it is not quite a novelty genus, but I think it is one that would work well for alot of growers due to its smaller size and tolerant personality. I'd be happy with any plant though... all orchids have a place in my heart! Can't wait for the project to start! I'm so excited!

What I have found in doing this project in the past, is considering the orchid's availability. So in Sue's absence, I'd like everyone who has listed orchids or anyone that wishes to join us and has an orchid they wish to submit, to find at least one source that has that orchid available ..in other words, which vendors carry the particular orchids you have listed .. This will help to eliminate orchids that are impossible to find .. If your list is extensive, you don't have to post the links but merely state where it is available ... I think it would be a good way of forming a list of orchids that is practical for our project. Again, this is a suggestion
For those in the USA, as a starting point - Andy's and Oak Hill are great places to begin to look and by no means, stop there .. there are many orchid vendors in the US -

In response to Dorothy's request, I tried to provide a link to where my selections could be purchased in the US. If others could help out with investigating where they could be purchased outside of the U.S. for our non-U.S. members participating it would be a great help. I will try and pitch in what I can, but I am not familiar with the places to purchase as others maybe. Thank you for everyones participation and hard work....this is going to be a tough decision in the end I have a feeling!

Stonedragonfarms, I noticed quite a few of what I listed in my previous post didn't make it to the "cleaned-up" list you provided, which was a great help! Is there a reason why? I wasn't sure if I missed something so I thought I would check.
