I just put the mounted walkeriana from Andy's into a plastic Vanda basket of red lava rock. The roots were not as nice as the other walkerianas that were already potted that way.

How beautiful! Good to know that they are indeed fragrant. Thanks for giving us all a little hope!

I posted a photo of this mount back in the summer when I first mounted it. Here it is in my indoor growing space:
Sorry, photo looks better on my phone than on my computer.
My other two C.w. 'Carmela' plants are 1) potted and 2) planted on a section of tree fern, doing fine but this mounted plant seems to be doing better.

My one I had mounted on the rock was not doing well so I took it off the mount and put it in a pot with bark. The biggest root turned black so I took it off and the new roots were all stubby and not growing right. I don't know if it was absorbing something it didn't like from the rock or if it just wasn't staying moist enough. I had SM under it that I kept pretty moist, but the roots still just didn't seem to do well. So, I'll see how it does in a pot. If it picks back up maybe I'll try mounting it on cork bark or wood.

I believe it needs a lot more water than we think.

On my wood mount, the roots get sprayed daily. There is no sphagnum moss on the mount, so the roots just absorb the daily spray. That seems to be enough water so far.
