You can see the canes are dry in the picture, it just never put out any new starts or many roots so it pretty much stayed the same and is like that now. I have been trying different things. We shall see. I have a few other primary hybrids but I really am more into species and minis. (but I have lots of other stuff thrown in there )

Cattleya Wayndora is a reliable and easy bloomer, if the plant is full grown and if the root system is healthy. Very fragrant. Requires typical Cattleya conditions with coarse potting medium. I have mine growing in whole wine corks, but "lava rock" or very coarse bark would also work. It is one of my oldest plants, and one of my favorites.

I sometimes feel like I have the only Wayndora left on the planet. I have never seen anyone else post pictures of a Wayndora. If someone else has OrchidWiz, or has a Wayndora they can post pict7res of, I would ____LOVE___ to see that to see how my Wayndora compares.
Here is the only one shown in OW. The cultivar is 'Lea' but that doesn't show as an awarded cultivar.

Silken - THANK YOU!!!

I have been looking for such a photo for a long time.

Back story on my plant. I purchased it in 1984 or 1985 from Cali Orchids in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico (a company by that name still exists but I suspect the ownership changed because their website says the company started in the 1990s). It was very clearly labeled as Cattleya Wayndora (Terry Wayne x Fedora) when I bought it.

Comparing the OW photo to my plant, they hardly even look like third cousins twice removed! I am not sure if my plant is just at opposite ends of the Wayndora grex's genetic spectrum from the 'Lea' cultivar, or if mine is a mislabeled plant.

I love my plant, and will continue to keep it labeled as Wayndora, but probably will not use it in breeding. I'll also provide the above information to anyone receiving a division in the future.

Glad I could help. Some hybrids are very different from their seedling siblings, as members were discussing on a thread here recently about an SVO hybrid a few of us have. So its not impossible that yours could really be Wayndora. But on the other hand, it could be so easy to have plant tags moved around too. Sorry it didn't really clear up the mystery.

Yours could very well be just what the tag says that it is. It has quite a variety in its background.

I like buying 'noID' species, primary hybrids and crosses when I can just for the fun of it. Some turn out well, some do not (I always wait for a few bloomings until I decide). Someone in our OS had a very nice C. gaskelliana and a selfing was done. The variety of the seedlings was quite astonishing. One of my favorite tales is the tale of Nelly Isler (one of my favorite orchids). Only one of the cross turned out nice and, wow, did it ever!

Back to the walkerianas....
On the older plant, a 'noID' 'walkeriana' bought from Al's Orchid Greenhouse (only $8!) a few years ago, I not only see the odd growths, I see that it also has sheaths! I think the sheaths seem a little suspicious. :|

Me, too. It might have 'Pendative' in it.

Just wondering...has the Pendative' controversy ever been settled?
