See this is sad. I was going to get on this morning and do an order from J&L before they close and I'm on here. and the sight is so slow it takes forever to do things. I have even skipped allot to just get through.

I am really sad about J&L. I did a last order not long ago. I then had to email them and add that Dendrobium they have been promoting (Dendrobium auriculatum--it is one I never would have considered and now I do not know how I ever had a collection without it!).

I see these posts about J&L closing, I was just on their website and it doesn't say anything on there about closing. Do you all know something I don't ??

From their page:
We have sold our Keep Collection in its entirety to a botanical garden overseas. For those of you who have visited, that is everything behind the chains, about 5500 plants. ALL OF OUR SALE PLANTS REMAIN, AND WE WILL DO BUSINESS AS USUAL THROUGH THE SUMMER.
J and L ORCHIDS IS STILL FOR SALE, AT A MUCH REDUCED PRICE. That sale includes our name, sale stock, website, mailing list and contacts. Please contact us for further information.

So, as I read and you quoted, they are still doing business and their sale plants are still available. At least for now. I have gotten several plants from them at the Amherst Orchid Society sale in Spring. I have always been happy with the quality of their plants. I was looking forward to going again in Spring, but maybe that's not to be.

The business is for sale but they say they will sell plants... "business as usual through summer" so maybe they extended it? But summer is officially over.

Exactly, summer is over so I've been in a panic. I did get my order made. I have a new set up for my Masdies and I didn't want to miss some of there's so well I was forced to order. Leafmite that ones not ringing a bell, guess I'll have to go back and take a look.
I wish someone would buy it and keep it going.

Well, I ordered from them a couple weeks ago and they said they are currently in the middle of selling to someone- that day even they were signing paperwork and working out deal, but she didn't say if the new owner was going to continue store or not. It sounded like to me the new owner would, but who knows...
I love their plants very much but after moving out west I've felt it risky buying from easy coast vendors... but years later with all the crappy plants I've gotten from west coast vendors with similar conditions, it was an unfounded feeling... sigh...
been keeping an eye on their website and no changes or news on business sale...
that den auriculatum I got myself earlier this year from a tip from someone on here, and let me tell you one of the most rewarding plants so far...

The den is the Orchid of the Month (that is how I found it in the beginning of July, when I ordered.
I am very glad that someone is buying it! Hopefully, the business will continue!

Back to the walkeriana...I brought in my plants and my older one has something interesting happening. There is another odd growth wrapped up with the newest set of normal growths. If they are blooms, it is not quite what I expected. I just moved everything under lights so I hope I did not mess anything up.
