I did the vinegar thing, no bubbles. Attached are the closest pictures I can get with my equipment. The base I first thought was granite, but it seems to be a mixture of different types that were formed and then chiseled out to make the shape. You can see the tool marks where it was shaped. The top rock seems to be a geode type that was split open. It is lighter (in weight) than the base and has an almost sandy texture. Maybe some kind of sandstone. I can see streaks of white which might be quartz, and some sparkle which brings mica to mind.
The place where I got it, a nursery, had several, but the one I got was the only one with the depression in the front where I plan on mounting my walkeriana.

With you new pictures, I agree - not concrete. The lower part looks like a granitic rock with potassium feldspar (See https://opentextbc.ca/geology/chapte...ating-methods/ , especially photo in the middle of the page.)

The upper part has a (gray) rim that seems to be made of quartz (silica). The lighter material could also be silica-based.

With the new photos, it looks like one rock was glued on top of the other. In any case, it should be a fun mount.

That rock is going to look so good covered in walkeriana! Good luck!

Here it is........What do you think ?? I put a little moss under it to help it to not dry out too much. I plan on misting the roots every day. I have been dunking it twice a day bare root in a clay pot. Do you think once a day with the moss added will be enough or should I mist it twice a day like it's used to ?

I think once a day should be good with the moss.

I forgot to post a picture of my walk potted for gngrhil- although by now it looks like there is a far cooler situation going on... beautiful stone for sure. I'll be curious to see if it takes hold. You'll have to keep us posted. Rocks do get really hot then really cold according to the weather conditions, so definitely factor that in.

anyway, below is how it came (as reference) and the 2nd pic is how it is currently potted... i consider it a sort of a bonsai style (exposed root) potting lol...

I actually got yet a third one that I mounted on cork. I got a great plant with 2x growths and long roots, but not quite as good as the one pictured here (from tropical orchid farm).

It looks nice and healthy.
