I have 2 larger (newer?) bulbs that are putting out new growths. I hope these end up being blooms (fingers crossed). Does anyone know if you can tell the difference between a new bulb and a bloom growth when they are that small? In the attached picture the new growths are coming from the front bulb and the one directly behind it. |

Here is a (hopefully) better photo of one of the new growths.

I think its too soon to tell. I had a hybrid that bloomed like a walkeriana and it took a while before I thought something weird was going on! Hope its blooms!

Once it starts growing you'll be able to tell

The one that is doing the 'next best' is potted. The third one (potted, sort of, in a hollow section of tree fern) is smaller, but to be fair it is also pushing 3 leads. |

Two photos, taken today, of SVO 5365 C. walkeriana v. coerulea ('Chouju' JC/AOS x 'Wenzel's Son')
You can compare them to February of this year, my earlier post to this thread: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...tml#post801472 I need to mount this plant. I can't think of any other reasonable way to deal with it. I also can't keep up with watering in this small 2.5" / 6cm pot. The last photo shows the above plus SVO 5363 C. walkeriana (v. alba 'Pendentive' AM/AOS x 'SVO's Passion' AM/AOS). The photo is similar to the double shot in my previous post, taken April 23 of this year, referenced above. The newest growth in the April photo is now the rightmost growth in today's photo, hanging over the reflecting ball. Note the shiny new upright growth. |
I like your pond in the background.
Concerning mounting the walkeriana, I have the mounted one from Andy's and it seems to be doing well. I do try to keep an eye on the root tips to make certain they are healthy and still growing. It is my first mounted walkeriana so it worries me a little. It is easier for me to grow these in plastic Vanda baskets and red lava rock. |
The mounted one I got from Andy's is doing really well with a new growth and roots now started. I am very pleased. I do water everyday since it's mounted.
|
My Andy's walkeriana is starting another new growth! I think it likes the hot summer. I am rather excited.
I water it every day, too. |
