Mine won't bloom for a few years either. Since I got it in April as bare root with few roots, it has 1 new root and a new growth that is growing very slowly.

Looks like I'm joining the fun (thanks, Leafmite). Just found a C. walkeriana semi-alba Carmela at Lowe's for $6.98. It's in a 2" pot, so probably a few years from blooming....

Haven't decided if I'll leave it potted or grow it mounted yet--my catt alliance all seem to do better for me on mounts....

Catherine

Sorry I don't have pix right now--no camera, no cell phone, and my daughter (the techie in the family) doesn't get back from camp until the beginning of July...You know, one of these days I might just have to join the 21st century.

Thank you all for the information on this thread--I put mine in a south window and gave it a good drink yesterday, and misted it this morning. I plan to move it outside into dappled shade over the weekend.

No need to apologize--I'm the one that should apologize for not having pix.....

Mine has 5 healthy pseudobulbs, the largest is about the size of my thumb. The leaves were a bit "soft" when I brought it home yesterday (though the pseudobulbs were not shriveled) but they have plumped back up with watering. Since it's raining tonight I moved it out to the porch to soak up the water, and it will be in dappled sunlight if/when the sun shines tomorrow.

No new root growth on it right now, so I would think I have some time to decide whether I want to leave it potted or mount it....

Your biggest bulbs sounds close to the size of the one I got from Andy's mounted. It will be rewarding when these bloom, whenever that is

I have a walkeriana cross that I love (Slc. Sierra Doll, which is a cross of Slc. Pink Doll with walkeriana) for the color and the fragrance. It has bloomed for me and it's not much bigger than this bag baby.

It will be interesting to see how these walkerianas grow!

I saw one at home depot and thought why the hell not?

Even though it had no signs of new growth I decided to just go gung ho and repot it.
I repotted the little guy into cypress mulch and within a week voila!

Both growth points are sending out fat little green roots
