A small orchid would be really great. I could squeeze in another orchid if it was small enough. Even better would be one that is a little more exciting than the last project orchid. :)

How about Amesiella monticola part 2 since everyone has either killed theirs or can't get it to do anything... :) or have we tortured this poor species enough?

Leafmite 02-04-2016 08:41 PM

It is the Amesiella monticola torturing me!
Mine is SLOWLY growing. Yeah, I'm going to order a new passion fruit vine to add the needed excitement to my life after that project (they grow inches a day).

I have some orchids in the Pleuro and Cattleya groups that constantly are putting out new growths. I'm certain that there are Dendrobiums that do the same. We could try to find orchids that are more active. :)

I do like Dendrobiums! I only have a few of them, and one is a nobile and not really doing anything right now, but my Den. crumenatum is probably the most active orchid I have.

Vanilla. Do I hear Vanilla? Also could be a tribute to lepetitmartien as he loved vanillas.

I was browsing Andy's site and saw several mini Dens that I wouldn't mind trying.

I'd be interested in a (potentially) somewhat active plant... I bought an Amesiella monticola after the last project, and of course, it has done nothing except blast a spike it had. ;) Otherwise, it may as well be a plastic plant (in my environment), as some of the projecteers observed...

I have to really think about it as I am really trying not to buy any new orchids because I am having a hard time taking care of what I have now.

Sorry but I don't think I would go for the vanilla. I use to at first think of how fun it would be to try but without a greenhouse I think it would be to hard for most people. We just had that and it didn't seem to work very good for most. Mine dying was my own fault as it got a fungus or what ever. It's the only one it killed all the others that were touched are still alive.

I just don't want one I pretty much know will never bloom for me. So a mini Den and how about a Pleuro, or do they just take to much humidity, those would work for me. I do love my Catt's so I would be in for that as well. And remember we can't get ones that cost to much.

Reading the Amesiella monticola project thread from start to finish, one gets the idea maybe the plant should play for the Chicago Cubs. I would vote for something easier to keep.

I agree. Something easy and easily rewarding to grow would be very nice. :)
