I was reading my The Dendrobiums book and it seems that this orchid grows on the dry side during the day, but gets damp nights. A bit weird. I think I was watering mine a bit too much.

I'm going to move it closer to the best air movement.

Lots of new root growth happening on my cuke! I have left mine sitting kind of above the medium, with the roots dipping down into it and the rhizome (I think that's what it is anyway) sitting on top where it can get air and I am seeing 5 new root growths.

Found a millipede munching on the roots of the smaller section of the plant so we gently removed the undermoss. It is not needed anyway as the roots are established. There was a snail too. Both are dead now. The bigger section with no moss is doing great and already shows the roots as bright green vs the ugly black soggy they were looking like yesterday. The extra ventilation obviously is the ticket during the day.

Mine isn't doing very much. I saw a tiny bloom and got excited but then realized it was on the prenticei. Opps. I keep hoping new growth will start. Mine looks so small compared to many of the others. :|

As expected, the ugly soggy part died back. The other part rotates between looking too dry or looking wet. I'm not exactly sure if my care is right. I don't see any die back on the cuke leaves so I guess that is a good thing.

I have no idea if mine is right either. I drench it once a week and let the bottom of the pot standing in a quarter inch of water for a day or two. When the medium is mostly dry, I do it again. Lots of new root growth.

Mine is growing roots and the new growths seem to have finished growing. It has been in the 80's and very humid here, with plenty of rain. So far, it seems happy.
