I got one of these a few months ago... so I'll post about it here. I mounted it on a kool log a few weeks ago, and it seems to be pushing out a new root tip now. (Growing it in the house, in a narrow shaded East-facing bathroom window.)

Mine came down with some sort of fungus infection! . I think I caught it in time but i touched the plant and the top leaf came off and I came serious about saving it. It spread to my Phal Hilo Lip that I got from big leaf orchids so I am NOT happy!!! I have both plants undergoing treatments, but now they have ugly black spots on them! It has been about a week and I am spraying them every other day and no more lost leaves!

I hope you can save it. This is what happened to mine. It is the only one I lost so far. I think the others are now OK but I finally got a fan in that room. It's all my fault.

Should I cut back this spike? I bought it in spike over the winter (Nov-Dec) and it started to grow two tiny buds which promptly blasted. It has since pushed out a tiny root tip but nothing else. I left the spike because it wasn't browning in the hopes that it might try to bud again but no luck. I'm thinking maybe I should cut it back so the plant can focus on roots and hopefully a new spike some day but I'm not sure if that's the case with this orchid as it is with Phals and others.

If it's brown, cut it down. If it's green don't be mean.
