The mount looks really professional! I get a bunch of mounted orchids from Andy's and it looks as if it had come from them. Good job!

I spread slug/snail bait on all of my mounts today. Caught and killed 2 slugs and several snails already. Nothing on my project plants. Good news!

My little one has a tiny new leaf forming. I'm happy to see it doing something. I really don't know what kind of care it prefers, but it seems to be holding it's own. I have it under the t-5s, in a warm place, and I water it daily. It is in a web pot with fairly chunky bark, so it dries out pretty fast.

I just looked at the post, and DANG that's a lot of humidity. Right now the humidity in my house is hovering around 70%, which is already enough to mess with the wood of my bedroom door and make it not be able to close properly, and that's not a good thing.

Keep in mind that the information is based on condition in the wild, and many times plants can be grown within a certain range of values and still be fine. From what I read elsewhere, the high humidity is especially necessary when blooming. My plant is also growing at about 60-70%, and seems fine for now. When (if) it spikes, I'll rig a system to place it in a vase with water+hydroton to increase the humidity if I see that the ambient conditions aren't good enough.

Yea not good. Even though I do have a swamp cooler in the summer I know my conditions are never 70 %. I will have to figure something out as well.

I think we need to hear about cultural requirements from people who actually grow the plant. At least we'd know what's really necessary or not! I'll try to dig up some old threads on it, if there are any.

If it needs humidity that high, it will have to go into my terrarium.

I've got a giant Brandy snifter that I have been thinking of putting some orchids in. Perhaps that might work. All my there ones I have ordered probably want the humidity also. I sure do hope not.
