Okay, I'm getting too annoyed with trying to maintain this thing in a pot. Forgot to water and some roots ended up dead, and now I've got mold. I'm gonna mount it as soon as I get a chance (which I know means watering more often, but it also means a lot less worry about overwatering). I've got a crepe myrtle outside, so free mounts.
(Or maybe I'll just buy a mount; that way I don't have to wade through a sea of bird poop just to find a stick on the ground, lol) |

Pretty sure the spike is done for but the rest of the plant seems to be doing alright

Sadly i didnt find monticola at the show,
on the bright side though, i got the dendrobium, and will be participating in that project |
Well I finally ordered mine. J&L was out by the time I got around to it so I ordered from First Rays. Life got in the way for a bit. Any way of course I had to get some TC and there was nothing else on my wish list so guess what, my wish list is not shorter and my orchid numbers are still growing.
So coming along for the ride: Amesiella monticola....of course. Dendribium laevifolium Ascofinetia cherry Blossom (Neo falata x Ascocentrum ampullaceum) Aeridovanda (Neo falcata x Aerides odorata) So my first Den, well I guess I have killed a couple so very long ago, so my first in a long, long time. Also I have never had any of these others or any of the ones they are crossed with. They I guess will be my other project plants. I am getting way to many new orchids lately. Bad, bad Shannon. So they are being shipped out tomorrow and I will put up a picture when they arrive. ---------- Post added at 12:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:14 PM ---------- Quote:

Shannon, did you get the 33% memorial day weekend discount? It makes a nice little difference in your order!

The piece of crepe myrtle looks ok for size, but is it a very hard, long-lasting wood? Are there any ruts, nooks, or crannies for the roots to work themselves in and around, or is it smooth?
Also, are the roots in direct contact with the mount with sphagnum over top, or is there a layer of sphagnum between the roots and the mount? |

Skycat it looks good. I'm hoping to be able to keep mine in the pot it comes in. Ray said they should be Ok for a year so here's to hoping. |
