Okay, I have sent off emails to the vendors in the USA for the below. I will edit as soon as I get their replies. I did not inquire on the EU vendors or CAN, but I know that Paramount is pretty good about keeping their site updated.

Marble Branch: $12 - 3 in stock (BS)
Orchids by Marlow: $25
Hausermann: $16

Aerangis citrata
Diamond Orchids $25 - 3 in stock BS

Marlow’s $22 - 5 in stock BS

Sent off an email to Marilyn at Windy Hill to see what she has. She did have BS Leptotes bicolor for $12 at the Springfield show, but I don't know how many she has left. - She does have a $50 minimum order, but depending on how many she has, some of us could combine an order like we did for the flask project.

I really like the Oeoniella but it seems like only a few people have it. I think that whatever is put on the final vote should be available at multiple vendors and easy to find for everyone. The vendor should also have other orchids that are desirable to help make the cost of shipping more reasonable. This should be fun, not stressful. :)

I dunno about Melissa, but I'm having fun contacting vendors and researching plants. I'm learning a lot!

I'm still looking for more vendors that have the Oeoniella. It is looking kind of limited right now though. I may get one even if it doesn't win, I really like it. It's a wee tiny little thing! :D

Just heard back from one of the vendors for the Oeoniella and they don't have very many of any of the plants we might potentially purchase from them. Looks like the Oeoniella might have to come off of the list too.

Yes, that is what this part of the project is for..to make sure we have multiple vendors especially so we can have the potential of TC plants.

Ok, so that makes 3 off the list (easier to do that then to struggle to decide to keep them on or not.) Now we just need to decide if we include the Den laevifolium and Aerangis citrata.

Leafmite 04-24-2015 10:34 AM

I am getting excited. I really like the choices. :)

camille1585 04-24-2015 10:35 AM

I have a ridiculous list of TCs if the winning plant is at my favorite grower. If it ends up being at a different grower, it just means that I'll have 2 orders!

I've been scouting out the traveling companions, too, and have a few lists, depending on what wins. :)

I'd say yes on citrata and no on laevifolium just based on price. laevifolium is available, but it seems to be at the high end of the spectrum for most people. It is a lovely plant, though. I have it and LOVE it.

So the final poll is shaping up to these plants? I LIKE it!!
Dendrobium cucumerinum: 11 votes
Podangis dactyloceras: 11 votes
Leptotes bicolor: 10 votes
Amesiella monticola: 10 votes
Aerangis citrata: 9 votes

These had to be removed from the final poll.
Hadrolaelia group: 13 votes - strike based on price & limited vendors
Oeniella polystachys: 12 votes - strike based on availability
Cattleya aclandiae: 11 votes - strike based on plant size and availability
Dendrobium laevifolium: 9 votes - strike based on price worldwide
