Lime might only be used in those species that require it. Im not going to try it.

I'm curious at which point to use fertilizer?

Re the lime: I think they were only really suggesting it for plants that have been in very acid medium and/or deprived of calcium in flask. Hopefully that wouldn't apply to most! I think you could do as much harm as good in most cases. Maybe only do it if you suspect something has been wrong and you have checked with an actual ph test?
Re fert: didn't use any for a few weeks last time I deflasked. This time I included it when deflasking. Not sure which is better really! I wanted to get some into my plants this time as they were deprived in flask, but I think it may have slightly encouraged a little (non-harmfull so far) fungus growth. |
Yea, I dont think my seedlings were so large as to start depleting the media in flask so Im not too worried about getting it on board too fast.

I waited about a month until I began fertilizing my seedling. I waited until I was sure I saw some new root growth.

Im seeing new leaves pop up on 3 out of 5 from one of my compots. |
I just finished repotting my Milt Harold Fister seedlings ( another thread ) but wanted to mention that I had a bad experience when using packing peanuts. The milt roots went straight through them. I had to cut roots and peanuts off.
It may well be that the roots are fibrous/strong - but I won't be using packing peanuts again. |

Why not just replant the Peanuts? Granted I take them off with Phal roots, but occasionally it's just better to leave them buried in the nut, and just pot it up as such.
