I'm deflasking tonight, so will hopefully post in the other thread later. I'm pretty busy the next week though, as I have some major deadlines for the course I'm doing... so please forgive me if I'm a bit slow updating things!

Take pictures!

Hi All,

Regret that Orchidview no longer does flasks and they have sold out of their compots.

Bummer.

zxyqu 04-17-2013 08:32 AM

I'm in!

Island Girl, what flasks from Peter did you like? I might be able to scrounge up a few extras over here if I have them. Anyway, looking forward to see how and what everyone does.

Rowangreen 04-17-2013 11:33 AM

Put you down, and taken Orchidview off the list... Also added Writhlington (though they'd probably only be of use to anyone who has them coming to their orchid society I guess!)

escualida 04-17-2013 11:52 AM

Hausermann's also has some cattleya flasks

SlipperGirl 04-17-2013 05:52 PM

If I am not to late I would love to participate :D I hope to have a flask before the end of April.

billc 04-17-2013 06:00 PM

I better get cracking before you people buy them all up.

Bill

Paul Mc 04-17-2013 07:39 PM

I'm on the edge with this project. What on earth would I do with all of those baby orchids... No space as is! Yikes. Oh, I so wanna... I'm torn!

zxyqu 04-17-2013 07:57 PM

Share with others Paul! I have no intention of growing out 35 of mine, but 10-15 and share the rest. I'm in

escualida 04-17-2013 07:58 PM

When they're big enough we can all trade with each other :)

If you have any nice phals you wanna share let me know!

Paul Mc 04-17-2013 07:59 PM

They are small so you could fit them all in the space of 2 or 3 big Catts!

Paul Mc 04-17-2013 09:00 PM

Oh, you guys are TERRIBLE!!! Such enablers you all are!!! ROFL!!!

Seriously, I am considering it and the space possibly needed. Let me research some more and see. I so terribly want to join, but need to be sure I can before I commit!

Call_Me_Bob 04-17-2013 09:14 PM

DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT

Paul Mc 04-17-2013 09:16 PM

Rofl!!!!

Call_Me_Bob 04-17-2013 09:17 PM

And just think, when you bloom out seedlings and a good amount of them too, you have some good chances of getting something that's extra special and award quality!

zxyqu 04-17-2013 09:22 PM

Paul, I might be able to get you a replate of a cross or two. That way it's not too many.

Paul Mc 04-17-2013 10:11 PM

I might be game for that, and would pay for shipping and packaging.

SlipperGirl 04-18-2013 12:18 PM

Has anyone ordered from woodstream orchids?

orchidsarefun 04-18-2013 12:22 PM

I can recommend this seller

elvis.813 | eBay

I have ordered epidendrums from them and they are very well packed and the plants were hardy. They also sent me a freebie (I ordered 3 and they sent 4).

I just bloomed my first one from them last summer.

I was thinking of ordering from them but when I tried to email them to ask if the flask I wanted was available it said that the email did not send.

Maybe I should try to call them

shadytrake 04-18-2013 06:58 PM

They are in the GH Friday - Sunday so that would be the best time to call them.

Rowangreen 04-19-2013 07:05 PM

Just to let everyone know it looks like I'm going to be off line for a couple of days. Will update when I get back!

I have been trying to get ahold of them but no one is answering, should I just make the order :dunno:

shadytrake 04-22-2013 04:37 PM

They might be away at a show. I would keep trying to contact them.

billc 04-22-2013 05:19 PM

I placed my order with Woodstream yesterday but haven't heard anything yet.:crossfing

Rowangreen 04-26-2013 06:03 AM

If I've missed anyone let me know!

I think we might as well leave this open a bit longer. I know there was talk of till the end of May, but maybe that's a bit long?

escualida 04-26-2013 10:02 AM

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have a flask of Dtps. Minho Princess x Phal.(New Cinderella x Dtps. Sun Princess) that I don't want if someone would like to take it off my hands.

I'm open to trading for something else or selling it, or maybe even just sending it to someone if they pay for shipping (and if they win me over with a good argument lol).

I see no reason to actually close it, anyone can get a flask if they want to!

Rowangreen 05-09-2013 06:43 AM

Just thought I'd drop a note in here, as there seem to be a lot of people joined on here that haven't posted in the main project thread yet. If you are waiting to get a flask later or something it would be great to hear from you about your plans... I hope people don't feel they can't post until they've got a flask or feel they are 'too late'!

catherinecarney 05-24-2013 09:36 PM

OMG, I almost missed this project! I'm in if it's not too late!

I've been looking at flasks recently, but held off because I didn't think I could grow them out, but being able to do this as part of a project (with all the input from "the pros" to guide me) has pushed me over the edge....(in a good way, of course!)

I'm leaning toward cattley alliance species or primary hybrids if I can find them--or maybe one of them and a phal flask.....I'll keep you posted!

Catherine

Rowangreen 05-25-2013 06:07 AM

Yes, jump in! I'll add you to the list.

catherinecarney 05-25-2013 10:20 AM

Thank you! I'll order flasks over the weekend and let you know what I get!

Island Girl 05-27-2013 12:21 AM

I'm still in! :) just deflasked one of my flasks a week ago today... Gotta post the pics! (which involves digging out my computer.. Ekk *I use my iPad usually*) I waited cuz I was planning on leaving town, so I waited a bit :)

The Orchid Boy 05-28-2013 03:22 PM

Almost missed this. I'll join in. I deflasked a flask of exactly 40 seedlings of Paph. liemianum ('Birchwood' HCC/AOS x self) from Fox Valley Orchids in late winter/early spring.

ALToronto 06-04-2013 07:04 PM

Is this still open? If so, I'd like to join. I don't know how I missed this thread earlier.

zxyqu 06-04-2013 07:07 PM

Of course it's still open! Later is better than never. Especially on a 3-8 year project... :-P

ALToronto 06-04-2013 07:09 PM

Great, thanks. I just sent off an email to Kingfisher.
