Project 5 - Final Poll

The red is common with this guy from lotsa sun. Harry told me they grow there's outside in full sun. The pics on Jays site show fully red examples. I'm assuming full sun.

I'm happy for you christian! I haven't ordered yet since I'm still hesitating to get it or not.

The reason I'm hesitating is that I'm not sure if my conditions are good for it. I grow my very few orchids on a west facing window sill. That being said, fall and winter in the Netherlands are very cloudy so the light levels are not great, and I have no lamps. Day temp is about 68-72°F and night is a little bit over 60°F.
My phals seems to be doing good with this, but then again I've only been here 2 months! In Feb I'll be back home in France where it is much warmer (and lighter) in my house.
So my question is, will L. reginae do good with these conditions, or should I wait for the spring project?? As a newbie, I think my chances of screwing up with this plant are much higher than for you experienced people!

The plant will need lots of light...
don't push yourself to get a plant that you don't have the right conditions for. You'll just be setting yourself up for possible disappointment and none of us like that

The springtime project will be a much more forgiving plant because there will be so many more people involved in it's choosing...YOU being one of them!

Thanks! High light plants are a big no no here for me! But I am absolutely itching to buy an orchid so will have to turn to some other type. Any suggestions?

I'm definately looking forwards to the spring project These projects just seem so fun! Who had this absolutely wonderful idea in the first place??

There are many low-light requiring plants to choose from. Feel free to join in, do your home-work and please suggest candidates for low light, if that is your requirement.

The projects came up in the chat room with me, Tindomul1of9 and another OB member, Tikva saying "Wouldn't it be cool if we all get the same plant?" That first project had the three of us, Justatypn and a friend, Marleneanne in Australia...

I ordered the Masd. erinacea too! mine does not have any spikes on it but looks like a nice healthy plant. I was shocked how small it was but am totally loving it!! can't wait to see it in bloom.

I was shocked too! WOW, it's small. This one may end up being one of my favorites! I was reading that these are nearly always blooming, off and on through out the year. Hopefully that's what we will find!

I won't say it was the first thing I did but it was probably the second, I bonked off one of the little spikes. They are very delicate.

I've got mine hanging in an Exo Terra tank. Intermediate temps and about 95% humidity. Today, I started using Superthrive & MSU fertilizer. I've already dipped my little horror.
