Hi Camille, would you come by car or by plane? I am not sure about bringing plants into France, but I assume there are similar conditions as bringing them into Switzerland. I think the best is to check with the border authorities in France, but as a tipp, I know that since 1st of June 2007 there is a special agreement between EU and Switzerland and therefore less control than before... Anyway, and as per my own experience, French seem to forget it at the border and gives you more problems when entering France, than the Swiss when entering Switzerland.
On Monday, I will have to go trought the border (flying to Lyon for business) and can try to obtain some extra Info... if possible I will post it here for you
BTW, I have added teh Thun Expo in the OB Calendar

Thanks, I'll look into it! I'm not sure if I will go yet, since I don't know if I'll be in the Netherlands or Lyon at that time. Depends on my final exams. If I'm in Lyon, I would go by train unless I get my drivers licence before then! I really want to go. Even if I can't find the project plant, I have lots of other ideas!!
Where in Lyon are you going?? I live near the tall pencil shaped building.

wow, then for your exams and your driving license... if you come to Thun, let me know, maybe we could meet there. I will probably go for the weekend with 2 or 3 work colleagues...

Hi Camille,
I've got good news for you I asked at the border, and they said that as long as the plants are coming from Switzerland or an EU Country, and are for "your private consume" (yes, that's what the french guy said ), it should not be a problem at all to bring them to France... He asked how expensive the plants would be and how many, and I told they would be 3 - 4 plants à around 30 - 40 € each... he replied that would be fine...
and as for the Pencil shaped building... I had to laugh when I arrived at the Hotel and saw that Building not that far away from it... had not noticed it before...

I'm interested. Count me in. I've been surfing around my local supplier Mark's site Orchidaceae, Inc. in the plants section and have my eye on a couple of suggestion. In March I will throw in my two cents worth. Wait. Make that three cents .

Cool! Our discussions start on March 2 in the Chat Room at 8pm EST. Remember, any plant suggested must be a small or compact grower due to some space issues and it must be an Intermediate grower so we all have a chance to bloom it in our surroundings.
I look forward to seeing you there.
We will also be striving to NOT get a plant of the same Genus as any previous project. Our previous plants were:
1. Phalaenopsis lobbii
2. Angraecum scottianum
3. Paphiopedilum venustum
4. Aerangis rhodosticta
5. Laelia reginae
