Ok, so nominations of groups that include previously done individual species are ok, because they allow for other choices- I get it now, thanks! I thought I saw a genus or two eliminated as previously done, but Maybe I'm mistaken.

No, we never eliminate an entire genus if a plant from it has already been chosen. It limits the options too much! An entire genus can be eliminated though just on the basis of our criteria. An obvious example: Cymbidiums are out, they're too large, and need a winter rest + summer outside.

Sounds a good sugestion to me. Remember hybrids are included and there's definitely EU sellers stock those. I'm in the EU and currently have a zygo triste (from Orchid Alchemy: he sells seed grown seedlings, but told me he's known plants as little as I've got to flower! Probably next year though...). My mutt zygo came from an orchid society meeting.

Mira-Claude,
That schoenorchis fragrans is the coolest plant I've seen in quite some time!

I'd love to do this as the project plant! It has the added benefit of being so tiny that it might keep some of us out of hot water with other less enthusiastic orchid loving members of our households. ;-)

FYI for everyone who is interested in Schoenorchis in the US.

Diamond Orchids also has Schoenorchis fragrans & Andy's Orchids has Schoenorchis paniculata.

I updated my post on the Hadrolaelias. I could only find one vendor in Canada so if anyone has any more ideas on where to find any of the six species and their hybrids I would appreciate it! I will keep updating the list with more vendors and choices.

My GOOD GOSH!!!!!! That is a fabulous list, Jane!!!! I was wondering if we should add hybrids with a Brassavola species as one of the immediate parents? I know that adds several just from Cloud's Orchids alone.

That's what I was meaning. If this group wins, then primary hybrids could be acceptable.
