After lurking for a long time, the last project thread really got me interested. I have been tempted to go out and get it, but maybe I'll just sign up for this instead.

I do want to participate but I am at the point where I need to be selective as to what I cram into my growing places. I'll have to wait and see what wins. These projects are really great, I just wish I had a greenhouse.

Is it kosher to wait and see what makes it to final voting before deciding to sign up? I've been wanting to give this a try since checking out the spring project a few months ago.

You can still sign up and decide later if you want to actually purchase the plant. Sign up, vote and if you decide to not buy the plant in the end than its ok. I'm limited on space and depending on what wins I might not end up buying either. But one of the main purposes of the project is to try a plant you wouldn't otherwise try on your own. Many people in past projects have found that they really like some of these orchids even though they didn't think they would.

I'd like to join in too if the chosen 'chids aren't too big, since I am planning on getting a few plants soon for a living wall projects in my living room (and trade or give a few, damn am I running out of space but I want to try new plants so badly!)

So soon I will be able to mount plants to free some table space to get more plants... OCD indeed
