Sophronitis cernua (Project 14 - Spring 2012) Female
Default

After a few busy weeks taking care of outside plants (and enjoying the sun lazily a wee bit much! ), I finally sat down and caught up with the whole thread

I was a little disappointed that my cernua seemed to be pretty much in stasis. No deterioration at all, but aside from a little root growth (I think, hard to tell since they're pretty much all in the tree fern mount), I saw no new apparent growth. Still glad my plant was pest free though, since other people ordering from the same seller had some bugs on theirs!

Then I read about some of you getting some new leads and finally decided to go digging into the little sphag pad that the 'chid sits over and saw a new bulb growing!

I think it likes my new watering technique more. I used to dip it every morning and then hang the mount, but now I put the mount in a little saucer after watering so the tree fern wicks up some of the dripping water back up. It still dries up within 2 days so all is well.

As far as light goes, it currently gets 12 hours of 2000 foot candle MH light a day. Anyone else mesures light with a meter? It's pretty much my reference for distance from my 400 watt.

Will now be watching the little sneak more closely hehe.
