I think the trick is bare mount and daily misting - for lotsa root growth.
I don't have any nubbin growth yet, hope that comes soon.....and then flowers- like end of July.
Like pasojanice I don't like a-waitin

My plant has two little new growths just starting. One on each lead.

Orchidsarefun- Keep hoping for flowers but end of July is a little early! The earliest we will see blooms is fall. My other cernua plant bloomed in February.

Well I'm jealous of all of you. Been using an in-between culture of Phals and Catts, and as of yet not much going on. Roots appeared to be doing ok, but it's starting to yellow and shed leaves. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, but I remain doubtful of its health. Maybe I'm just doomed to kill any plants that are project plants.

So sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will pull through.

I'm growing mine with my Tolumnia's plenty of morning sun but then it's shaded by a huge oak tree until late evening when it gets just a bit of direct
Light for maybe 30 minutes or so.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Mine had dying roots and a yellowing leaf... and now the new roots! So hopefully yours is just 'adjusting' too and you'll have roots soon!

No new growths yet on mine, but I think the newest pulb has only just matured since I got it. There's a few spots I'm keeping an eye on, but I think really roots is all I can expect just now!

After a few busy weeks taking care of outside plants (and enjoying the sun lazily a wee bit much! ), I finally sat down and caught up with the whole thread

I was a little disappointed that my cernua seemed to be pretty much in stasis. No deterioration at all, but aside from a little root growth (I think, hard to tell since they're pretty much all in the tree fern mount), I saw no new apparent growth. Still glad my plant was pest free though, since other people ordering from the same seller had some bugs on theirs!

Then I read about some of you getting some new leads and finally decided to go digging into the little sphag pad that the 'chid sits over and saw a new bulb growing!

I think it likes my new watering technique more. I used to dip it every morning and then hang the mount, but now I put the mount in a little saucer after watering so the tree fern wicks up some of the dripping water back up. It still dries up within 2 days so all is well.

As far as light goes, it currently gets 12 hours of 2000 foot candle MH light a day. Anyone else mesures light with a meter? It's pretty much my reference for distance from my 400 watt.

Will now be watching the little sneak more closely hehe.

I wish!

I looked into getting a light meter, but those things seem never to cost under a $100, and I really can't justify spending that much on a device ...

I don't have a light meter, either. I just guage lighting by what else grows in a spot and the leaf color. I've learned, the hard way, that an orchid requiring 'high light' doesn't mean the same lighting as for other plants. 'High light' for other plants usually means eight or more hours of full sun. : )
