Lol, I know it, but making time for it is a whole different matter! The past few weeks have been hectic though since I was busy packing. I moved last weekend, and there's no rush to finish unpacking so I'll have time for the orchids this weekend!

Thought you'd like some inspiration; here was a plant a member brought along to our last orchid society meeting:

Apparently, there are two distinct growth forms, one that has a very rambling growth pattern, and one that forms very tidy alternate growths. Apparently the latter has larger flowers; the photos above are of the rambling form.

Mine is also growing new roots at an amazing rate. That's all it's doing though (understandably so because it was rootless), but it's making me jealous of others that are getting new growth! I can see two tiny leads but they're not doing anything at the moment.

I am not the most patient person at times. I'm going to go home and play PJ Harvey's 'Grow grow grow' to it.

Roots are the most important, so I'm not too disappointed either that their are no growths. But I think once the plant is done growing the roots, it can divert its energy to growths.

Mine ain't doing diddly-squat. Okay, it seems to slooooowly be growing some roots/continuing growing old roots, but it makes all of my Paphs look like cheetahs in comparison.

So I've decided to be a sore loser and sell mine (if anyone wants it that is) since I'm bored with it anyway. I think I don't have sufficient light levels in my flat, supportive lights or no supportive lights, so hopefully someone with a South facing window will buy it from me.

It was fun being part of this project even though I didn't stick around for long!

Give it some time!! You don't know if you can bloom it until you've gone through an entire growth cycle. And Soph cernua is not a very fast plant, yours is also recovering from having leaves removed, so it needs to get adjusted before doing some growing. Put it outside in the summer if you can, my previous one would bloom fine just by getting 2 months of strong sun a year.

Jeez, that's a too quick to judge. Mine is throwing new roots, but it's not going to grow like a weed. It's tiny, and we've all barely had them for a few weeks now. Give it some time to adapt to your space, and then hopefully it'll take off (relatively speaking).

Default Stay with us Mutant!

Mutant- You need to give it more time. They don't bloom until winter. They just got done blooming a few months ago so it's time for roots. You have to consider that yours was ripped off its mount. Orchids do not adjust fast after going through that trauma. That is why yours is behind other members plants. Being removed from the mount was more traumatizing than cutting the leaves off. Your plant is trying to recover from having two stressful things that happened to it. Growing orchids requires patients! These are neat plants! I think you will regret giving up so fast. Give it a chance! It would love to go outside for the summer. My plants take off when they go outside during the warmer months. Try that if you don't think you have enough light inside. We want you to stay with us!

Weren't you the one that was trying to get everyone to vote for the cernua? I remember you wanting this plant to win really bad and now you are giving up on it after only a few weeks?!!!
