I am very excited to be part of this project! I purchased the sophronitis from J&L and it is such a cute little thing I repotted it into a 3" pot and now it is happily living in my south window. Good luck to everybody! I'll have to post a pic later.

Welcome
Hi Becky, glad you have your plant and it's happy! Mine is too and I have to post a picture of how it's doing also.

I noticed this today while watering the cernua.
Its just the bottom two leaves. The other 4 on top are perfectly fine.
Whats up with the dark coloring?

It is from the light. It is normal. The two leaves that have the red coloring are probably being exposed to the light while the other leaves undersides are facing down away from the light. My plants do that too. That means it is getting good light. Remember these plants have red flowers.

No, these are the two bottom leaves. They are the darker ones on the underside. The top ones are higher and are getting more light than these two. They all have a dark stripe in the middle of the leaf.

I understand that the two lower leaves are the leaves with the dark color on the underside of their leaf. I was saying that the top leaves have their undersides facing down towards the mount so the top of the leaves are getting more light than the underside of the leaf that is why they are not purple. The bottom leaves with the purple color are growing in a way that the light is shining on the underside of the leaf so they are turning purple. All three of my cernua plants do that and my two Sophronitis wittigiana plants do that too. It's normal.

I'll take your word its normal but the way the plant is mounted the bottom leaves get less light even the under sides. I'll grab a picture tomorrow to show how it rests in the humidity dish. I turned the mount in my picture to show it better.
