I'm always tempted to buy from Schwerter, but the delivery to Ireland is very expensive. I've been staring at the pic of the sumatranum - are the leaves wider than the lobbii's? I think I like the shape better.

As I said, you have a nice strong plant which will easily get over it it...
I look forward to the time when I can distinguish between "bad" and "good" spots on the leaves, it'll save me a lot of worry and a lot of unnecessary stress for the chids.

I know, I've started getting a bit hypochondriac on the behalf of my orchids; every little spot on their leaves are a sure sign of virus according to my brain. Hopefully, I'll learn with time.

Now I'll look forward to see some growth on my Soph.

Haha. Wait till you start wanting plants that are virused, and learn to deal with a little bit of virus in your collection mutant! Have to keep a constant watch...

Isn't delivery cost the same as for us? I only see exceptions for Norway and Switzerland.

The last time I checked it was nearly €30 (could have been more) - that seems very expensive to me, but what is it for you?

22.50€!
I'm surprised, they don't list Ireland as a more expensive country.

Yes, sumatranum has a more compact growth.. Leaves are shorter and wider as well... I also like this better.... But lobbii has larger flowers :-)

I guess nature has balanced the more compact growth with the smaller flowers. I'm starting to think I ordered the wrong bulbo, but I will reserve judgement for when it eventually flowers.

It was definitely not that low last time I checked - otherwise I would've definitely ordered some goodies from Schwerter. I would imagine they have to send to Ireland via airmail. If they didn't it would have to go to the UK and then maybe by ferry to Ireland which would take ages and result in dead, or nearly dead, plants.

It's airmail in any case, same for us.
