Wow, I keep looking at the information posted and linked on the thread and I just love all that I am learning about my tiny plant
(I just wish I'd ordered some TCs with it! Oh well, last show of the season for me in 2 weeks )
LOVE the cholla wood mount, I'd seen some cholla available in a florist shop in Montreal, but I had doubts about how durable it would end up being under wet conditions, now I really feel like I have to try to mount something on a piece of it.
I've moved my soph into it's proper light spot and now the watch for new growth begins!

Seems mine's still sitting in an airport somewhere. I'm hoping it will keep pace with Camille's (since it got delayed at the start...) in which case it should officially arrive in the UK this evening.
Now I have to go make space for new orchids!

Melanie,
The cholla wood is very hard. Last time I cut something that dense it was mahogany. It's not as hard as that but it's certainly not easy to cut. I expect it to last a very long time.

Mine is still stuck in Germany, although it's on its way now. 60% done. I should have it by Friday if the previous three orders are anything to judge by.
I need to order a lamp so I can provide it and my Paph roebelenii with the amount of light they want.

Mutant, that's the same stage mine's stuck at. If I'm reading it right, it means it's between check in at the German airport and check out at your airport, so could be still in Germany, on a plane, or sitting awaiting processing your end. I'm guessing progress only gets updated when the barcode gets scanned, not every time it actually moves. So there's a bit of a mystery area between those two 'checkpoints'!

From Chaz Smith
This is my second cernua I won from Ebay this time coming from the suggested seller Chaz Smith...
Notice that the new lighter colored roots growing is bigger than the established root system.
Overall....I am pleased with this happy healthy plant than the first one I got with algae infestation(I had it mounted in redwood basket=it is bigger than this plant =its in a 4 inches basket and this plant is only in a 2 inches pot))
This plant will remain in the clear pot until it decides to grow out of it.
Yep ...its wise to get two plants for the project...in that way I can have comparrison.

Mind sharing the tips he gave you? I always like to know as much as possible about these projects plants!
That reminds me, I said I would compile all the culture info in the first post. Pasted it all into a Word doc last weekend, now I just have to copy it into the post!
