I use KLN by Dyna-Gro on newly potted plants. I also use a little when I fertilize. Some people use SuperThrive but this one has one rooting hormone in it and KLN has two hormones in it. Ray from First Ray's said that and he thinks you get more bang for your buck with KLN. He posted that in another thread.

Thanks so much. I have never used any and after reading about the others, wasn't too sure if I should be using some. Hmmmm...going to post a pic tomorrow of my project plant. I redid it and put it back in its little net pot and put it in a glass jar with stones. I really liked that idea for the humidity capture.

I currently use KLN because it is the one I have at hand... You can also use SuperThrive (I used it before as well) with basically the same result!

Use it only to help plants with poor root system! Some people use them regularly when they water the plants, but very often (not always!) this can induce deformed flowers... Maybe not in the first year, but later on.. First time I got a bottle of superThrive I used gularly when watering, after one year started having deformed flower in some plant (some plants seems to be more sensitive than others)... After asking around, I got the feedback from seval people with the same results after long term use of rooting hormones! I stopped the frequent use, and problem solved!

Now I use them when I get new plants, when I have a plant with root problems, or sometimes once at the beginning of growing season for extra push...

H! They are loking very healthy if a little dehydrated.
And I am pretty sure it is just my luck striking again. It is exceptional! (The irony... lol)
And to find the snail I had to tore the sphag apart and leave the plats bare on the mounts. It's the spider mites that made me do it!
But as the spiders are easily eradicated I am not to scared for the future of the plants!

Janice- I also use Pro-Tekt by Dyna-Gro with my fertilizer and the KLN. Pro-Tekt isn't a rooting hormone but a silicon supplement. It says that it is supposed to enhance plant growth and reduce stress caused by heat, cold, drought, insects, and disease. I think it does help.

Some people also use a seaweed suppliment and it is also a rooting hormone. When my fertilizer that I have now runs out I might try Ray's Solo product. He told me this would also take the place of the KLN. Here is a link to the Solo.

I love bell jars over orchids too. It just makes them look even more awesome.

I am going to Chicago tomorrow and guess who figured out that orchids by Hausermann is only 30 min from where we are staying.
