Also saw some seedling in 2" pots for $6.
I just bought a compot from this EBay seller and the plants are very very healthy. I got about 25 seedlings out of the pot. I didn't get cernua though. He actually volunteers for some big nurseries in Hawaii and gets paid in plants. My compots tag was from H&R so I think that is one of the nurseries he volenteers for. He is a really nice man. He was probably one of the nicest eBay sellers I have ever bought from. If you want a compot, I highly recommend buying from him.

Could you also put some of the moss in back of the orchid to cushion it against the wood also? That, in my mind, would add some extra layer for humidity then if put into a glass or cup with stones. I think I might be thinking out loud but not sure. Let me know what you think.

Janice- I mount my plants with New Zealand spaghnum moss under them. I grow in the house most of the year and outside during summer so they would be too dry without the moss. It dries out quite fast less than a day. I just mounted a piece of my cernua I already had cause when I transplanted it the plant broke in two. I used a piece of cork bark and tied some moss on it then tied the plant on top. I use fishing line. It is now growing new roots and has three new leads. It is doing great. I am getting another mounted cernua for the project.

fragrans. All ohhhh sooo good.....Jean
That wasn't my plant, it was Elise's plant. I commented on her post. I haven't received my project plant yet it is supposed to be here by the end of the week.

Lots of healthy looking roots. The roots had grown into the old bark media, such that it was impossible to extricate them without doing substantial damage to the plant. So I only removed a couple of the looser bark pieces, and placed the orchid into a 3" clay pot. I added a few fresh bark chunks along the sides and bottom of the pot, very loosely arranged.

What do you guys have in mind for lighting? For now, I'm hanging the pot about 5" away from a CFL growlight, which I think is on the bright side.
Looks great! Very healthy roots too. They like lots of light, and on my previous cernua I was aiming for purple edging on the new growths.

I think I'll put mine in a netpot when I get it, that works very well for me for orchids that like moisture and like to dry out fast. What I do is then put the netpot inside a slighltly larger plastic pot for added humidity around the roots. Or else it dries way too quickly. I should have fine late next week!

Uh oh, that's not good! Your significant other doesn't agree? You should explain that it's not just another plant, it's a project plant!!

Oh Discus~~
I'm sorry. Have your SO read this thread & see how CUTE S. cernua is. Perhaps a combo BDay, Christmas, Anniversary gift? One gorgeous orchid for all of those dates! That works well with my spouse.

Sophronitis cernua (Project 14 - Spring 2012)-arrived-jpg

So, after closer inspection, I have two pbulbs that are dead and it honestly looks like I have two different plants.

I put it in a little glass ramaken for now until my mounting stuff arrives. This should give more than ample humidity for the little gal.
