Hi All,
Mine is stubborn and hasn't put out any spike this year, but I keep hoping since it looks like it finally started growing. I'm thinking about putting it in a pot...not sure yet.

Well, still no new growths. However, my fishbowl idea is working great. Its still growing roots and one is almost 3" long now. Just wish it would actually grow a new pbulb though.

Wish I'd had my camera with me yesterday, there was an amazing specimen at my Orchid Society. Totally covering a hand sized piece of bark, with pulbs + leaves at least 3 inches and flowering in two clumps. After talking to the owner I think I might finally be on the right track with mine: it's in a pot pretty much sitting on chunky bark and coco and gets sprayed just about every day and watered once a week, so it dries out every day and it's pretty much like being mounted. My roots still aren't stunning (I'm telling myself that really is my plant... it had ugly lumpy roots when I first got it) but they are growing even if they show no desire to go into the medium! The only real difference is he had his in a cold greenhouse over the winter. So I might try a colder room next winter: I've had it in my livingroom, which is constantly warm.
My latest leaf is currently opening. I don't think there's any flowers in there, but I don't think there's enough roots to suport them so that's OK. I'm hoping for new growth, new roots and maybe flowers this summer!

I really need to get some new pictures of mine. The roots are really taking off finally. I also tossed in my phal. bellina in there as it was drying out way too fast.

Sheath ?

well one of the 3 new growths has a sheath developing ( clear in photo 2 ). I have never seen or heard of this before. Anyone have any ideas ? You can see the dried out stalk of previous blooms - no sheath.

it turns out the "sheath" was actually another leaf.....which I haven't seen before on all the photos and other cernuas I have seen. Don't know why that secondary leaf developed..
Mine has been outdoors a few months now and I just noticed today that there is a lot of new root growth. I wonder if the high temps had something to do with that.
The previous 3 growths are now mature. According to my records, this bloomed in Sept/Oct 2012. Some new growths better develop !

Your plant loves the outdoors....your grow zone is very humid this time of year and you just had a heat wave....its a happy healthy plant...the color of the leaves have that exact shade of green when given proper light.

Mine had a bit of new growth early this spring, but has stalled recently. We had temps in the upper 90 to 100F for a few days before we dipped back down to low 80F and 60F nights again. Unheard of given the time of year, but I'll take it!!! LOL...
