My new growth and roots are growing well. I filled in a little extra medium so the roots wouldn't have far to got. So they are growing out sideways not down... actually they are very short yet (a few milimeters) so hopefully they'll turn downwards soon!

Fingers crossed that I might have some blooms this spring! The largest of the 2 new growths (3rd one rotted) popped open the leaf last week, and I see a sheath in it. Now, whether or not there will be any buds in it later, that is the question...

Unfortunately mine has died.. .:(
I look forward to reading and seeing pics of everyone's blooms and plants. |
Still growing stinking roots. It is VERY attached to the mount though.

I am sorry to hear that yours didn't survive, Nenella. Mine isn't a roaring success like everyone else's seems to be but it at least looks healthy, even if it isn't doing much (if anything). It seems to feel that it deserves a long break after blooming. Maybe it does. Long break. Since December. :I

I think yours is better than mine Leafmite! I think I will be very lucky if I get a first bloom out of the growth it's working on now.
It's putting out 3 new roots, but two of those are still insisting on growing sideways into open air rather than down into the medium! One little root is heading downwards. Praying it manages to grow into the new medium rather than giving up at the surface like it often did with the old stuff... I don't think the plant has any real good old roots right now. |
My soph thanks you graciously for condoning its laziness. I hope you will get some blooms, too. :)

Gorgeous roots!!!! Good growing!

the cultivar I have definitely prefers a "dry" mount.
I can see 3 pbulbs for sure now. Does anyone know how to get additional growths out of the older pbulbs ? I read somewhere that cutting 3/4 into the "rhizome" between pbulbs stimulates catts to grow new pbulbs, but I have never tried it. The older pbulbs on mine are flattened together. |
