What did you pick for a TC? I got a whole list of TCs! I think I need to narrow it down. I guess it will depend on what plant wins and where I can buy it.

Encyclia radiata

That is if I get it from J&L which I probably will if the Soph wins. Their shipping is more than reasonable so I'll be happy to buy from them.

J & L is the one place I have ALWAYS gotten really nice plants and great customer service. You'll enjoy dealing with them.

I think I'm going to need some inventiveness to keep happy whatever we get by the sound of it! I have a flat with either South or North facing rooms, meaning they are basically bright and as a result can get very hot or cooler but dark. My dark rooms also run to more humidity. I don't have the money to run massive amounts of lights etc. Could be interesting!

If I end up with a mounted orchid (or two...) I'm thinking of creating a case for it out of a clear plastic storage box: I'm thinking of hanging it inside, and cutting out one side. The idea being I could then spray it easily wherever I'm keeping it!

As for TC's: I already have a Prosthecia/Encyclia radiata. Young plant I only got recently, so not much to tell on that. I think Max picta and cornu cervi (if it's not picked) are more likely for me.

You should get one of those mini greenhouses - they're small enough to fit on a windowsill. I've seen some in Ikea. At least that way you can open the top when you want some air to circulate - otherwise you might have issues with mould/fungus (unless of course you're thinking of mounting a small fan in the box).

The idea of cutting the side out was so it would get air circulation: I want it as drip catcher rather than a greenhouse.

No new replies yet today.

I didn't contact any of the EU growers since each plant is available in at least 2 places, and we're only 7-8 people. As soon as Gmail wants to work again I'll email Paramount to double check they have 6 of everything that they are the only supplier of. And Forest View about the Paph. Stupid me should have sent the emails to them over the weekend weekend.

Assuming that availability in Canada (Soph was checked) and EU is fine -since we need small numbers of plants- so far in the final poll there are the two favorites:
Soph cernua
Bulbo lobbii/sumatranum
