As Ramon already wrote, the list that will be checked for availability is
Sophronitis cernua - 21
Bulbophyllum lobbii - 15
Phal. cornu-cervi - 12
Paph. purpuratum - 11
Dendrobium lawesii - 11
These two are alternates in case we have issues with the top 5.
Aerangis biloba - 10
Angraecum didieri - 10
It looks like it slipped by me that the Soph cernua at Cloud's wasn't blooming size. The main issue for any of the orchids though it going to be availability in the USA, we need something like 30 available plants!
Thank you all for your patience, I hope to get the final poll up within a week at the most.

Camille: I sent Hawaiian Botanicals (CAN) an email on April 7, and they have 6 S. cernua and 5 S. cernua var. mineira available. All blooming size. I believe this is enough for the Canadians if it is chosen.

Thanks!
This evening I was making a list of which growers need to be emailed about what plants, so that takes one off the list.

Oh dear, that's going to be an issue no matter which plant makes it through to the final poll. What on earth happens if we don't find 30 plants in the US? It seems like a bit of a challenge to be able to find so many of the same species and in blooming size too.
I'm so glad I'm not you Camille...
Welcome back by the way!

30 is not an overly large number. For plants available at several growers it's usually fine (unless the plant is a somewhat rare one), we usually find enough between them. As for plants available only in 1 place, it just depends on the popularity of the orchid. For instance, I know that Schwerter can stock over a hundred of a single species/hybrid. But rare plants may only be available in very small numbers.
I'll be sending out emails this weekend, and as soon as I have all the replies back, I'll do the poll.

Ya, Mutant, don't worry. We usually have no trouble finding enough plants. Most of the time we split it up among several sellers.

So far the only one that seems like it *might* be an issue is the Phal, which is only at one US grower in our price range. Unless people are not opposed to using Parkside Orchids as well, were it is slightly overpriced ($22)

In general... If a plant is rare then it most likely wouldn't be sold for under $20. There for wouldn't of made the list.

I wouldn't mind paying an extra $2.

I meant rare more in the sense that if a plant is not a bestseller, growers have less incentive to stock huge quantities of it.
