I agree. I've never bought true deciduous on purpose. This would be great to learn from everyone else's experiences!

I had also been always a bit "afraid" of deciduous Dendros... But las year I decided to give them a try after reading an article in Orchids Digest (ok, none suitable for this project, as they're are huge plants: D. anosmum and D. aphyllum), and I am really happy I did it... Easy and nice plants...

Aphyllum currently in buds...

Just been trying to decide between Phals cornu and mannii. I think cornu cervi has won: sounds a little easier, longer blooming period, and has crazy spikes!

Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem *G*

Carter and Holmes Orchids also has Dendrobium lawesii for $12 blooming size in 2 inch pots. Just another vender if the plant wins. They have the bicolored variety.
Carter and Holmes- D. lawesii

Den. parishii is a very nice deciduous dendrobium, quite similar to anosmum but a lot smaller. My large mature plant is in a 3" pot and the longest growth is about 10". I was able to find US (Clown Alley) and EU (Grossraschener, I think) suppliers but not CAN, maybe that newly listed nursery has it...

they are both really similar. i prefer the CC becuase it has better shape, but the mannii is much cheaper at other places.. im voting for both and 1 or both will become a TC

I think our member goods14 (Zach) knows them personally, he could probably provide additional 'character reference' as needed. Not that you all need more plants for the list...
Update: just checked their website and parishii is selling for $20 there, too, so they probably have a good few in stock.

Nat, you're correct. I'm there all the time. I can't resist with them being only 5 minutes from home I should be there sometime this week. I'll ask how any parishii he's got right now. He does all his own flasking, so he may have quite a few if it's one of his crosses.
I'm confident in saying this is one of the nicest up and coming nurseries I know of and the selection of awesome species is astounding. Definitely one to watch for the future.
