It is listed as 'starting at $17.50' but no idea how much they really are. Seems to be pretty expensive most places.

Actually all the rupicolous Laelias can be grown in cool to warm conditions. Andy's Orchids recomends growing them that way. Including Laelia briegeri and Laelia ghillanyi. I also grow them that way and they do fine. If we can find a rupicolous Laelia at all three locations I think it would be a good candidate.

I hate to suggest this as so many likely have it but it would probably be easy to find, it stays relatively small, and it is not too expensive: Brassavola nodosa. Oakhill has it for $15, blooming size, and Hausermann's also has it. Great fragrance at night. I would be amazed if it were difficult to find in Canada or Europe.

Laelia lundii is also listed at Andy's as a cool to warm grower. Santa Barbara Orchid Estate also lists it as temperature tolerant. I found it at Orchid Species in Europe for 16.99. It's already been found in the USA and Canada. Andy's and SBOE in the US also have it. It should be a good one too.

Why not????? I Love this one but have already tried once & killed it..That would be a challenge!

Prob. not participating because I already have too many orchids, but here are some comments on the list so far:

Jumellea comorensis is $12 at Carter and Holmes

Rhyncholaelia glauca, Den. wassellii, and Cattleya lundii have all been very temperature-tolerant for me, I'd put these as solid intermediate growers whatever IOSPE and Orchidwiz say.

Likewise, however Den. oligophyllum grows in the wild it definitely does NOT need hot temps in cultivation. Before I killed mine by dehydration I kept it mostly between 50 and 80 F and it grew and bloomed well. Don't know any vendors, though...

I found Jumella comorensis at Carter and Holmes Orchids in the US for $12.00. We already found it in Europe and Canada so that one should be able to be added to the list. It's also fragrant and blooms throughout the year!

How about Aerangis fastuosa? It's an intermediate to warm grower. Isope Photos says its a warm grower but the nurseries I found it at said intermediate to warm. I found it at Paramount Orchids in Canada for $28, Elsner Orchideen in Europe for 13.00, and at J & L Orchids for $25. I'm sure Andy's would have it if you called him. I think he had it listed not to long ago for less than $25.
