the most common cause of orchid death is loneliness, specifically during travel. so, it is CRUCIAL that each plant has a TC. but of course TCs can be affected by loneliness, therefore, each TC must have 2 TCs to go along. to be extra safe, add even more TCs.

Ill be honest, anything less than what is prescribed above is just ASKING for trouble! dont risk it!

Been at the RHS orchid show this weekend. There was a Lycaste Aromatica specimin plant on display there, and I must have been back to smell it about 50 times. Amazing! Would definitely be a good pick! It meets the requirements when flowering definitely... Not sure about when it has leaves!

PS: can I also suggest Coelogyne Ochracea/nitada Lindley.

IOSPE has it cool to warm growing.

Burnham has it in the UK

Again it was on display at the RHS: besides being a nice plant, it also smells lovely! It reminded me of Dentyle Clove mouthwash. LOL

Guys and gals, to keep it easy on the organizers, please post a link to where the plant can be bought or if they dont have a website post it. I've done a few things like this on other forums and its a huge pain to find something over and over again.

Found it here at Elsner for 17 EUR, Elsner orchids

Found it at Carolina Orchids for 25 dollars Carolina Orchids - SPECIES Data which is too expensive.

Can't find it at any of the Canadian vendors either, so this beauty is probably a no-go. :(

I have updated the first post with an organized list of all the suggestions. So far, only 3 plants meet all the requirements! So many others need to have growers researched.

Keep suggesting as well (previous project lists can be a good source of candidate plants) it would be nice to have a list of 10-15 orchids that go to poll.

I found that this place has oncidium ornithorhynchum. I have never ordered from them. I will look for other links.
