I don't think that this is a good way to proceed... It is REALLY REALLY hard to find orchids that meet the general criteria (usually compact, intermediate grower, and under $25) that is available in sufficient numbers in the US, Canada and Europe (the 3 zones we usually deal with in each project.) The task is probably going to be even more difficult this time, now that Oak Hill Gardens (USA) is gone. Since it's nice to have a poll at the end to vote on the project plant, we need to find at least 5 candidate plants, which is easier said than done.
Usually size and temperature requirements are a more important criteria for many people than the alliance the plants are in. For instance, I can't have very large plants, nor cool growers. So we usually stick to compact intermediate growers (or compact and have 3 categories - cool- intermediate- warm) so that a maximum number of people will be able to participate.
I'm thinking up of some ideas for the new project based on experience with past projects. Still some time, there's no point starting up a project until late march-early april, which is the earliest everyone can have orchids shipped without running the risk of getting a bocx of frozen mush.
