Shakkai, maybe you should make contact as it'll be another one on your European order.
Some information for everybody involved:
I've been doing a lot of reading on this plant (also see IdahoOrchids thread on hints for the plant http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-proj-4-a.html ) and everything I've read says that this plant does best mounted.
Something to think about...

Also, for those with vivariums or orchidariums, it would be a great candidate for upper section of the tank. As one of the referneces states 6-9" from the lights (I think this may depend on the type and strength of the lights however.) Since my mistking system runs 4-5 times a day, it will suffice for the wetness needs.

Still waiting for responses on the confirmation PM I sent out from:
Tin (he's on vacation, I know)
Charles
If you've decided to stop here and not continue, that's fine...but I need to know so I can give the correct number of plants to the vendors when I speak to them.
Please respond, one way or another

D, I'm going to try a small vanda basket with CHC. I'm too afraid to try mounted as my RH is pretty low. I think the basket may be a good in between. At least it sounds like it in theory!

Isn't this one of the points with the project? Aren't we trying different techniques in different growing conditions worldwide to see what works best for us? I think "anything goes". If one wants to grow this puppy on rubber tires, go for it. I'd love to see all the different regimes. Hope I'm on track with this assessment.

Ross, I have the same understanding as you have. The plants will/should all be equal to start, and when we get them we do what we would normally do with a newly arrived orchid - i.e. repot, mount, whatever....
Given the very wide variety of growing conditions represented in this project, I think we will get to see a lot of different variations! That's the exciting part for me.

I would say your both correct. On the past projects we all did our own thing when it came to repotting and enviromental conditions. Seems that we all have our own niche' when it comes to our orchids.
It will be very interesting to see how many conditions we all grow in. I know that with project 3 (Angraecum scottianum) I grew my orchid the same way the winner did...conditions varied and mine is merely just chillin' and no signs of blooming goin' on, this project will be even more interesting...

Terri, knowing your area, what will you do in winter (the normal rest period for this orchid?). Humidity is pretty high when the rainy season gets there. Keep that in mind when selecting a potting medium. I'm not trying to sway you, but the basket sounds fine. Maybe you want to think about watering daily in summer and less frequent in winter? My humidity is 30% or so in winter and close to 70% in summer (reverse of yours) but it matches with what I've read so far on the culture thread.

I agree totally. I have Angraecum didieri and A. florulentum and neither is doing squat except growing new leaves. florulentum is in my orchidarium and didieri is growing in diatomite chunks in pot in grow window (bright light.) Both put out great growth and roots, but notta on the blossoms. So we are all expirimenting here, and hopefully learning.
