Mine is like that, too. I've seen root growth and I've only had it a short time.

I just got mine.. It is about 12" tall. Is mounted & in a pot. I got it from Kawamoto, very impressed with how it was packaged. Not too many axial root, no bud formation Plant looks healthy.
I am planning to pot mine. The lit I have read says that this thricholglottis likes to be consistently moist. How are Y'all going to grow yours?
As I said before, I am new to all this--so my motto is read & jump in feet first".

I'm growing mine like it came. I'm no expert on this, so I'll trust the guy who was growing it well before me (Reid at Kawamoto's). Once I get better at it, I may play with it, but it's doing just fine at the moment. It gets watered a fair bit during the week, but it's been insanely hot lately.

I'm keeping mine on the pressed stick mount it came on from Andy's. I may pot it as the literature I read says it likes to stay somewhat moist as well, but I'm a bit scared to take it off of this mount for two reasons. #1, it's got flower spikes and I don't want them to abort, #2, the roots are so long I don't think it would go in a pot and #3, the roots have grown through the pressed sticks which means I'd have to destroy the mount very carefully to get it off.
I actually like the look of the pressed sticks, but since temperatures have been upwards of 100F here it means I have had to water it 2 to 3 times a day and it is still absolutely bone dry come morning.
