mine grew 2 slightly smaller leaves since i had gotten it and i just assumed that it was a bit less than happy and did my best to improve its culture ( i have been doing vase culture, but i frankly dont water it enough)
now i just got back from a vacation to see another full new leaf and a 2nd on the way both are considerably larger than the normals ones (not just the slightly smaller ones since i have had it. al the leaves it had on it (maybe 14-18) when i got it were very very uniform in size, not getting bigger as the plant got longer,
so any idea what would cause a set of jumbo leaves?
it has been outside in the very muggy and very warm DC summer with its roots in a huge brandy like glass, its gets sun in the afternoon, but it under a overhang, is not showing signs of anything in particular besides the leaves.

Well I'm getting new root! First one since I've owned it, way up on the growth that was new last fall/winter. And growing fast.
Question:
I am doing vase culture basically, this root is way high up and will be in open air unless and till it gets quite long. Is there a good way to take care it? I'm sure the plant wants to use it a lot. Not sure how to deal with plants with this type of growth habit come the winter when I will reallllllly need the vase to keep humidity anywhere near ok for it.

I decided to put mine into s/h inside my terrarium, this because it has new roots growing and I have a gut feeling it needed even more humidity at root level than it was getting. . It has been there 2 weeks and has continued to grow the new leaf it was growing. I can't say about the roots @ the moment as can't see them. I did make sure that none were planted touching the 'water area'.
Hopefully they will grow towards it

Trgl. brachiata for S/H
I am considering purchasing one of these, but after reading the thread I am slightly concerned that it may die if I forget to water it for a couple days. (Which will inevitably happen) Has anyone tried S/H with this species?

i now have mine hanging in open air right near my fogger in th new greenhouse, im guessing it is going to like that, unless it gets too cold.
anyone got the skinny on what temp is best for this specifically? intermediate is a pretty big range and does not really describe much
in a few months im planning on wrapping it around the outside of a "reverse s/h pot" you can search for the thread that was talking about them, i am having some ones made for me to test out a handful of different orchids on them. my trig. will be my only "vanda/air root type" getting tested.

I have my mother plant hanging in a basket on the south facing window and the two keikis are now separated from the mother and on S/H on the same window(they both flowered last summer)....they have constant 80F from my centralized climate controlled apartment and a 2 gallon electric humidifier with oscillating small fan

well mine has developped 2 new leaves and roots above S/h have doubled in length. Nothing else to report. I'll take a pic this weekend for comparison.

Ugh. Can't wait for the next project to attempt yet again. This 0-fer streak is killing me.

I'm kinda in that boat. All projects have refused to bloom as of yet.

Oh Paul, what I didn't make clear, they all die... Ugh... All of them. If its a project orchid, its not gonna make it. I'd be surprised if I didn't kill a Phal project orchid.
