It actually came that way from Andy's Orchids. It's made of sticks that look like they were somehow adhered or pressed together. It's actually quite delicate at the top and the bottom, I've broken a few pieces off, lol...

Quick question. For those of you have yours mounted, how are you watering it? I have begun noticing that my longest roots are turning a bit brown and constricting. They are not turning green anymore when I water. Should I be treating it more like a Vanda in watering - being submerssing it in a tub of water for 10 to 15 minutes as opposed to just spraying it with water?

The literature that i read said to keep the roots evenly moist. More frequent mistings/dunking?

mmursuli, how often do you water your Vanda's, and how do you treat them? I just got my first two Vanda's this weekend and have no clue how to treat them. If you could tell me, then that may help with the project plant.
On a side note, I left it in a resevoir of water for about 15 minutes yesterday. While two of the long roots were too far gone to repair, the rest turned that nice green color. Even two that were getting thin appear to have plumped up just a bit and have a better color now.

Paul, I have my Vandas bare root in a hanging basket. The only drawback to that is the watering requirements. I water everyday in the morning, unless it rains. And I fertilize weekly, WEAKLY.
One of them is just a seedling, but take a look at the other one: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...xcitement.html
