WOW, I guess I should be watching mine more carefully then. We're in the 100F's here and mine gets afternoon shade only. I haven't seen any issues yet other than one of my buds blasting, but I'll have to really keep an eye on it.

Yeah I probably increased the light too much too quickly, and I'm sure the heat didn't help. It's been put back where it started, and hopefully it'll continue it's growth. If it does, I may try again to slowly move it back into some early sunlight.

i have it a little brighter than my phals for now. its too hot to increase now. its not with my catts which get almost full sun. so idk where it belongs

I am semi annoyed with my plant. It has not changed in appearance since I got it. The leaves are still flat and the roots look the same. I have no idea if I'm watering or fertilizing enough with it sitting in a clay pot with just tree fern fiber. I think I'm going to mount it but I don't know how much sphag to use. Any suggestions?

Joann, I'm not crazy about clay pots for vandeous plants. If you are going to do anything maybe a wooden basket or a tree fern totem. I would just make sure it it is getting sufficient humidity.
I honestly have seen a great deal of activity since I started using seaweed extract. I've been using it twice a week in a sprayer for all my plants.

ps: you really shouldn't have to use much if any sphagnum if the humidity is up.

Perhaps it is establishing roots in the pot, Joann? Mine is potted, too. Is this plant supposed to be a rapid grower? Mine still looks pretty happy. I've only had it for 2 weeks, though.

I like that seaweed stuff, too.

Thanks for the info Cathy.
Right now middle America is hot and humid (95-105F and 55-70%). In the winter the most humidity I can provide will be about 45-60% depending on the temperature outside. I thought mounting it might be the best solution.
This is my first vanda type plant and I really am clueless on culture since the plant has shown no changes in the few weeks I've had it.
I'll check out the seaweed extract.

The plant is bareroot in the clay pot with just some tree fern fiber stuck in. The roots in the pot are the same as the day I got the silly thing. The bright side is they haven't turned brown or died but they are not growing either. The 3 arial roots are just there too, not growing.
I have no idea if this is supposed to be a rapid grower---mine is not.
