Just in case you didn't know, you can touch the iphone screen to tell it where to focus on (at least you can with the Iphone4) May help with pics. But yep, looks like a keiki to me. Are you sure it was a spike originally, or do these keiki on a long stem?

Yeah, the iPhone 4G has that capability. I don't think the iPhone 3G does which is what I'm using. However, I just found out this weekend that I could upgrade my phone for free. (Off subject there, sorry). I think I may do this so you guys can start getting some clear pictures from me, lol...
It is definately the flower spike and it still has one flower left on it from the many that bloomed. The root originates about halfway up the spike and is inching it's way back towards the base of the mother plant.
I left mine outside all year, so I wonder if it got pollinated by something or the wind/rain, etc... Of course, I'd think it would just produce seeds as opposed to starting a new keiki on the spike. I just don't know what's happening, but I won't question mother nature on it. It would be really cool to have two growing on the same mount!

Well my Gastrochilus somaiis in spike. Hoping they don't blast. Since I live in a warmer climate then most I think it blooms later then most. The nubbin on the right in the second picture is a spike and a new root on the left. It gets water 3 or more time a week and hangs over my Lilly pond.

It hard to see the spike..... I was going to say you only have two new roots but then I saw it behind the root on the right.
Good growing!!!!

I LOVE THIS SPECIES!
Look forward to seeing pics of both buds & blooms!
My Project plant will be blooming soon too, as well as some of the other Gastros I have acquired in the past year... are also showing signs of spikes!
