I have a new spike and lots of new growth(leaves and roots). It seems to love high humidity and watered about every other day with weak fert. every watering .... At least if you have it mounted. I use about 75-100 PPM N. I say high humidity relative to Cal. terms of high humidity..... The air here is so dry that it hard to get 60% and keep it with out a green house or over watering. I could only imagine how much better the root growth would be with 80% RH.

My Somai has two spikes with about the same amount of growth. I'll add that they get partial sun under 55% shade cloth. They sit about 4' under the shade cloth right above my RO water tank.

Don't worry if you don't get spikes now. Seems like there are 2 types: the fall bloomers and the spring bloomers. Mine's a spring one it seems.

Interesting. Mine has developed a new leaf, but otherwise seems to just sit there. I was watering daily with light fertilizer and distilled water, but switched to just using the water hose. Perhaps I will revert back to the fertilizer regimen to see if I can't get more growth.

Mine gets drowned every 2-3 days with fert (~75-100 PPM N), and gets a fair spritz every AM with a lower dose fert (~25, but I dont really measure it). It seems to like that, but I also think Humidity is king. Luckily, here in Atlanta, there is plenty of that.

Well, I never bought a new one for the project, so mine is about six months older (in my care) than everyone else's... however I still want to share with you all...

I have a spike
