If it's the gastro, then I have to believe it's probably a root as it's supposed to bloom in the summer I thought. However, I'd be proud to know it's rooting because that increases your chances of flowers! And we all know how we like those flowers!

Like Camille and Nenella said, you can dunk the whole plant. I actually put my mounts plant down into the water and soak for about 10min. I just make sure I always do that in the morning so they have plenty of time to dry through the day.

I had the same thing from this seller back on one of the previous projects and I was disappointed. I've finally mounted that plant (Den lodigesii) myself over a year later.
I've had other plants from them mounted though, in fact I think all the ones I've bought mounted came from them.

A nubbin is anything, generally used for a growth which you don't yet know what it is.
Dorothy was a great OB member and moderator who died last year. She was a wonderful fun character and she introduced the idea of nubbin to us. Those of us who remember her always think of her when something is called a nubbin. It always makes me smile in sad/fond memory of Dorothy.

Ouch, my apologies to the OB for her loss. I recognized the name from some of my post readings, but I did not realize she wasn't with us. And, I might just have to name this unknown nubbin'/plant Dorothy.
Keith, where did you get yours from? And, it looks like its raining.
Finally, anyone who's gotten a Gastro before and has it doing well mounted and outside, could I get a headsup on the best/range of footcandles for this little guy. I still can't figure out where to mount it yet, but given it's finally the weekend, I have time to actually run around and take some light measurements at various spots.

Well, I have e-mailed them and it'll be interesting to see if they reply/ what they say.
With respect to Dorothy, I kinda remember hearing that name when I first joined the board and, since all my orchids have names (yes, I am serious, they all have names), as my first project, the Gastro may just have to become Dorothy as a tribute

So we will have two gastros named Dorothy?
I never got to talk to her personally, but I learned alot from her posts. I wish I had gotten a chance to talk to her.
So, any ideas or a name for my gastro?
EDIT- I have decided on freddy!
You can call me Bob

Well, if there is some sentiment here, and Rosie and Co wouldn't mind, I'd be willing to name this a Memorial Spring Project in honor of Dorothy. But it may not do her justice unless we can get some of them to bloom
