Hey Rosie. I can't find the gastrochillus on Hausermann's website. Do you have inside information, and/or reserved them for the project?

She is in communication with the vendors. Did you try Oak Hill?

Oak Hill has them for all interested. I just made the comment as I couldn't find it on Hausermann as she suggested. Just trying to figure out what vendor is going to win out for my order.

I checked at Hauserman's too and didn't see it. I found several TC's that I would order from them if they do have it!!!

I might just not order at all. Hausermann I like but the plants that I buy from Oakhill die within the year or less. I like Andy's and Hausermann but from Oakhill I'm not buying.

Never bought from Oak Hills or Andy's before, but I'm willing to try unless there is an overall bad feeling about them. Hausermann has never failed to impress.

I bought a couple from Oak Hill at our local show this year and have had great luck. New roots and leaves!

I've ordered from andy's many times and am always impressed. The thing to remember about andy's is that he is a naturalist and grows them as they would naturally be found. While we all want them to be in pristine shape, that is not how they are found in nature and that is not necessarily how you will get them from Andy's. But his quality is still good- good root systems and healthy plants.
Oakhill I have ordered from as well with no problem. I've only done one order from them so I don't have vast experience with them.

That is so disappointing! At this rate it was already obvious that Doritis wasn't going to win, but it was still nice to hold out a little hope.

I have purchased a lot of plants over the years from both Andy's and Oak Hill. I have a couple problems with both places, however I must add that their plants have always arrived in good condition. I have to agree with Roly about the risk of purchasing from them. It seems to me that the main problem is these growers are not in south Florida and the plants quite often don't make the adjustment to our climate and conditions as well as the plants raised here. So for that reason I avoid both of these vendors now. Also the plants from Andy's are usually mounted and the wood he uses for mounts rots way, way too quickly. I have lost several plants because of the rotted mount problem. I will be looking locally for the project plant. Also, the Redlands Show is coming up soon, so I can also look there. I will be sure to post on this thread if I find the plant at any other vendors. Good luck everyone! Looks like it will be the Gastrochilus!
