OK, my fault for not checking the list. I'm still getting one soon anyway

I've checked their site. They don't ship to Alaska, and Hawaii needs extra permits and licences before they will ship.

Florida and Loisuna have a one month quarantine delay in shipping.

I'm not sure if we have anyone taking part in the two states they don't ship to. What do folks think... is the quarantine period going to stop us using them?

Hey guys,

I'm not in the affected states, but it would bum me out a bit if I was in Florida and had to wait a month. That said, if it was an amazing orchid and it couldn't be sourced anywhere else, perhaps the one month period would be worth it. Could we give the Florida and Louisiania people a one month head start on orders?

Do we have anyone in Hawaii or Alaska? That would seem to be a dealbreaker.

I went through the sign up thread to look at the location of each participant.

2 people don't have a location on the profile.
1 person is in Louisiana
8 people are in Florida

That's a lot of people. I have the list if you want to PM them about it Rosie.

Considering the quite long list we have of candidate plants, I'm not sure that it would be very necessary to add SBOE. Sure there are some nice candidate plants that we miss out on, but are they worth all the trouble?

I think it would be easier to just not use sboe. If we had one or two people affected, that's different but 9! Plus, we already have a a large lost compiled

I am not in the affected states, but I do have another vendor. I have not used them before but they do sell species orchids and they are in Florida. Has anyone from Florida used them?

While not being affected by the shipping issues, it is a shame. I wonder why those two states do that when no others do. How odd.

I live in upstate NY so using SBOE doesn't affect me but if others from FL/LA don't want to wait then we should knock that plant off the list.

I have never ordered from them because of the shipping restriction. I don't like the fact that we have to wait a full month before we receive the plants.

I'm not in any of these restricted states. But if a plant is only available from SBOE, I wouldn't mind seeing it dropped from the list. We have a pretty long list of plants to choose from so far, right? Maybe it's okay if a few are crossed off, since it sounds like it will simplify things. Or eliminating SBOE as a vendor? Does that make things even easier?

But not being from any of the affected areas, I don't have any strong feelings - except that I don't want to wait an extra month!!

I will say that anyone living in Hawaii shouldn't complain too much. Yes, it may be a hassle dealing with extra permits and increased shipping - but they can walk out their front door and they're in Hawaii !!! So lucky!!
