Ross, you are the project 4 master!!
Seems like all the plants that bloomed last year are blooming earlier this year. I know mine, though no where near as developed as others, is still farther along now that it was at the same time last year. Wonder why?

I would definitely do that! As disgusted as I am I couldn't just throw it away. It's only fault is that it lives with me.

Caseydoll,
What Ross is doing WORKS! Have you tried reproducing his growing conditions, as closely as you can?
You don't have to reinvente the wheel. . .take his lead. . .copy from the master.
How are you growing yours now, that isn't making it happy?
What'dja think?

OK, update as of August 29:
These guys haven't chosen to display themselves in a way that is an easy capture! There are 5 of the 6 spikes in advanced stage of bud or even blossom. Enjoy.

Ross, your plant is fantastic!! One question, I think I remember you got one growth like the rest of us - how in the heck did you get it to come out with that number of new growths - it looks like you've got about 5 'fans' of leaves!!!
Great job!!

Yep! Just play the right sort of music for it during the day I like soft jazz as does my plant. (just kidding). I fertilize every other day with MSU blend/RO water at 125ppm and mist from one of Marty's systems every 4 hours for 5 seconds. It grows under 1800 FCs (18,000 lux) for 12-14 hours. Love it when these surprise me and tell me they love me

How the heck are you able to give it it's daily dunk without breaking off a spike? Seems like you'd have to resort to a shallow baking dish to accomodate the spikes. Wowzers!
My much more modest little guy is starting to send out buds even as the spike continues to grow in length. I don't remember it doing that last year.

Lately I've resorted to soaking with a hand sprayer rather than dunking.

Well here is my update! She decided to open while at the orchid sitter around August 20th.....and she is still in bloom! I wish I would have taken pictures sooner while the flowers were more white, but they are still beautiful to look at. This spike, still only one, is much longer and fuller! I went a little picture happy...enjoy!
