Good Morning everyone!

When I awoke this morning what was the first thing to pop into my mind? Yep, "today my project plant will be here." Then I asked myself the question, what is it that can make a grown, responsible, comparatively level headed man (some people might debate this. LOL) be so excited about getting a new plant? It's almost like a 6 year old child on Christmas morning, pretty much knowing that Santa has brought him/her all the wonderful things they asked for but still excited about opening the package and seeing "it" for the first time. I guess there isn't any logic behind it, it's just the thought of "can I make it grow?" "Can I find the right window/light that it requires?" What was the watering requirement for it again?" "I'd better go on line and this time print out the care sheet!"
I ordered it potted, should I have gotten the mounted one? Maybe I'll decide to mount it after I see it. I've been thinking of trying an idea I've had about how to combine the two methods and come up with a potted/mounted plant. Is this the plant I'll try that with?

I saw where Sue has accumulated 4 or more new plants this week but still is excited as all get out to receive her Aerangis! Isn't it wonderful that something as simple as a living, growing thing can make a person feel alive!

Anyway, I'll post a picture of the new 'chid this afternoon and hope all of you have great growing!!! No matter how busy the day is, take a few minutes to really look at your plants, whether in bloom or not, and really appreciate that we can actually make our plants, whether they be orchids, or geraniums, grow, bloom and complete the cycle of life meant for them.

Al, What a wonderful view on life! And very well said. Yes, I agree 100%.

I get up early every morning so that I can spent at least half and hour going around - misting, checking, and most importantly, *appreciating* my plants. After all, this is why I chose to share my life with them. It is a wonderful thing to be able to see the exotic, natural world right up close and witness those cycles season after season.

That was a wonderful post!

Brought a smile to my face

My morning routine goes something like this...well, exactly like this:

Press Start on the coffee maker, let Sammi out and grab the paper, feed Sammi, pour the coffee, read the paper and head out to the orchid room, usually by 8am.
First, I walk around the pool and check all the 'chids out there to see if anything has miraculously happened overnight

Then in the room and do the same...ya never know

Misting and/or feeding...a dip in the pool.

A few hours later...the walk around starts all over again!

I truly need help!

The dip in the pool and tour of your plants is very enticing Sue.
I have not yet ordered but plan to do so as soon as my next paycheck comes in next week.

My order shipped Monday but still isn't here. I could drive there and back in less time than this. When I try to check the number I was given by USPS it just says package was accepted on Moday. No new information. Hope the 'chids will be OK that long. It is pretty hot out this time of year.

Thanks for the wonderful wake me up Al...

Mine's a bit like the above just that my hours flucuate with my retail schedule anywhere from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., but the aroma of coffee is a must in the air to make the day semi complete...complete is a walk into the nook, patio, living room and dining room, misting, watering what needs to be and checking for any creatures that have not donated to the mortgage fund. What better way for a wake me up than to see them grow and bloom

Mine as well as yours stating the same Ross...doesn't put a cap on the arrival date...gonna go check in a few when the mailman arrives. Ya think he might see me

I received my plants! As expected, they're fantastic

I got Aerangis rhodosticta (her name is Rhoda) which looks great for the project and L Santa Barbara 'Sunset' as a TC.
Both are great...the Sunset has 2 or 3 sheaths in bud and a number of new leads! I look forward to seeing this one in bloom!

I also got a Lc Mini Purple for my mother-in-law. She has a good friend who has expressed an interest in orchids and Mom wanted to get her something nice. I picked the Lc Mini Purple...which arrived in bud!
Mom's friend is going to have the pleasure of watching this beauty bloom as her first orchid!
